Everyone in our industry realizes, at some point, that not all clients will understand what “Staging” is all about. They may even question your abilities, and this is exactly why you need to be able to politely educate them on your craft and communicate your passion for Staging. And if it hasn’t happened to you already, consider yourself lucky (and let us know where you find your clients!).
Although many may believe Stagers exist to simply “stick” furniture in houses, it’s quite the opposite! It’s broken up into tiny, fragile little pieces that, when done right, eventually fit together like an advanced, complex, and stunning piece of artwork. Keep in mind that not everyone has the patience to put the puzzle together, but you, the Stager, not only enjoy each step of the process, but you make it look easy, too!
As a trained Stager, you have the gift of stepping into a house and immediately getting an image in your mind of what style and size furniture you need to make the home warm and inviting. But did you know you are calculating measurements and color schemes at the same time? You are even thinking of how you want the house to smell. In your mind, you have straightened the blinds and the crooked painting in the corner. You even saw the buyers smile when they walked in!
So next time a client downplays your abilities, educate them on what #STAGERLIFE is really about!
